King of Comedy

An uncommon and thoroughly entertaining comic delight from Stephen Chow, King of Comedy delivers tons of laughs and even some unexpected tears! Wan Tin Sau (Stephen Chow) is a ridiculously dedicated actor whose knowledge and understanding of acting technique and theory is incredibly advanced - and yet he can only score roles as an extra. But thanks to his acting prowess, he's about to meet two vastly different women. One woman is To Kuen Yee (Karen Mok), a Hong Kong Cinema superstar who finds Tin Sau's dedication admirable. The other woman is club girl Lau Piu Piu (Cecilia Cheung in her debut), who takes acting lessons from Tin Sau to better treat her "customers". A love triangle forms, and Tin Saw must inevitably choose between the two women. But romantic subplots aside, there's still room in King of Comedy for Bruce Lee and John Woo send-ups, a parody of the hit Japanese drama Long Vacation, a cameo from Jackie Chan, and even an undercover assignment that challenges Tin Sau's acting ability to its fullest! At once charmingly human, disarmingly romantic, and breathlessly bizarre, King of Comedy is a Stephen Chow movie that's so creative and surprising that it's not only hilarious, but accomplished and even touching!
